Cotswold Conference Centre have really got some bottle !

Cotswold Conference Centre is taking another step towards self-sufficiency and reducing its carbon footprint. Already supporting various "green business" initiatives, the team at the Broadway based member of "Conference Centres of Excellence" embrace any new activity that reduces waste and therefore costs.

Notoriously, the meeting and hospitality industry is among the worst at producing waste and wasting energy. This can be through food waste, constant lighting , TV's on standby or constant cleaning and laundry.

Nick Akerman, Sales Manager comments "We feel the need to try that bit harder than most to minimise our impact where we can both locally and wider afield. Last year delegates got through over 1000 dozen glass bottles of still and sparkling water which all arrived on a lorry starting their journey from Scotland. In our continued enthusiasm for all things ‘green', we realised this was a crazy situation. When we also put a price on the work needed to recycle all the glass it made good business and environmental sense to set up our own bottling system on site - working in conjunction with The Pure Water Company".

Facilities Manager Richard Howdle welcomes the opportunity to reduce unnecessary costs, and confirms that the practical implementation of the scheme is simple and straightforward, "We have designed our own Farncombe Estate glass bottles and now offer both still and carbonated bottled water to all delegates as part of the inclusive delegate rate. Our staff simply fill the bottles at a suitably quiet moment- meal times are ideal. Additionally, the initial reaction from customers has been very positive. Within 2 years the set-up costs will have been covered".
